Plus Size Lingerie Modeling

Plus Size Lingerie Modeling
While many people think of lingerie modeling being done by super slim female models, there is actually quite a market for the plus size woman in this regard. With the average woman being a size twelve, many fashion designers are recognizing the need to create and show off lingerie for the woman of average or plus size, as this is a big demographic of female shoppers. Therefore plus size lingerie modeling is here and seems as if it is going to stay. Lingerie is for woman of all sizes, not just those who are have the classic, thin model body.

For quite a while the media propels the idea that models need to be super slim and runway shows are performed by the ultra thin. In the fashion industry the normal size for models is size zero with size four the largest size seen on the average runway.

However, with size twelve being the average size of women, fashion designers are becoming very aware of the need to design and sell clothing that elegantly fits woman of all sizes and this is where plus size lingerie modeling comes in. Long gone are the days of Twiggy and the heroin chick phase that hit the world.

Women of all sizes generally want to see what lingerie will look like before buying. To meet this demand fashion shows are popping up to give them just that. For quite some time, woman with fuller figures were kept off of the runways, but not any longer. The full size woman is now being prompted to lovingly accept their bodies as they are.

Full figures woman can now be seen modeling plus size lingerie and walking proud. Design is not limited; the fuller woman can wear quite beautiful teddies and even g-string panties, looking quite attractive. From silk to fur accessorized lingerie, models of fuller size are showing off the goods.
Being a plus sized model does involve a bit more than simply having a few extra pounds. A woman’s body can be full figured, yet at the same time exude health and beauty. Designers generally look for those with beautiful skin tones, a healthy proportional build and an attractive face that will photograph well and shine on the runway. A woman’s height also comes into play.

The modeling world can be a rough one. A plus sized woman should remember that even super slim models are not chosen for every job that they go after. There is always rejection at some point along the way, even supermodels like Tyra Banks and Kate Moss did not book every job that they went after. Having enthusiasm for what you want to accomplish and keeping a good attitude can be the keys that allow you to ultimately succeed. Keeping your body healthy, taking care of your skin and hair and being proportionate will help quite a bit. Having an air of great self confidence can also take you a long way.

There are agencies that take on woman of all sizes and there are those who specialize just in the plus sized model. Having a good portfolio of photographs and perfecting your interviewing skills will certainly help if you wish to enter this arena. Remembering that a size twenty woman can be just as beautiful as a size two is important.
